About Us

We're an AI software-as-a-service company providing IP camera systems for dairy farms. Our monitoring solutions enhance operational visibility and efficiency through intelligent technology.

Position Overview

We're seeking an AgTech Camera Systems Engineer to provide advanced technical support and system optimization for our dairy farm camera installations. This is a hands-on technical role focused on remote troubleshooting, system configuration, and problem resolution.

You'll work independently from your home office to resolve complex technical issues, optimize camera system performance, manage GitLab repositories, work in Google Cloud environments, and create technical documentation. This role requires strong Linux skills, networking expertise, and the ability to solve problems methodically and independently.

What You'll Do

Advanced Technical Problem Solving

  • Remote system troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex IP camera, networking, and server issues across multiple dairy farm installations
  • Configuration optimization: Remotely configure camera systems, adjust video quality settings, and optimize network performance for dairy operations
  • System maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, updates, and performance monitoring of deployed camera systems

Development & Cloud Operations

  • GitLab management: Maintain code repositories, manage configuration files, and coordinate technical deployments through version control
  • Google Cloud operations: Work with cloud infrastructure, manage deployments, and troubleshoot cloud-based services
  • System integration: Configure and maintain connections between camera systems, cloud services, and monitoring platforms
  • Python automation: Create and maintain Python scripts for system automation, monitoring, and deployment tasks

Video System Management

  • Video analysis: Monitor video quality, identify technical issues (freezes, lags, connection problems), and implement fixes
  • FFMPEG operations: Extract footage from Network Video Recorders and camera feeds using command-line tools (essential daily tool)
  • Quality control: Ensure optimal video coverage and performance across all dairy farm installations
  • System Monitoring & Documentation
  • Zabbix monitoring: Configure and maintain system monitoring, alerts, and performance tracking across farm installations
  • Documentation creation: Write detailed technical guides, troubleshooting procedures, and system configuration documentation
  • Issue management: Manage your own technical support tickets, document all troubleshooting steps, and maintain detailed solution records
  • Installation support: Provide real-time technical support during field installations, including connectivity verification and system deployment confirmation

Client Coordination

  • Direct farm coordination: Communicate directly with farm personnel when necessary to resolve technical issues and coordinate system access
  • Installation coordination: Work with field technicians during installations to ensure proper system deployment and connectivity

What We're Looking For

Essential Technical Qualifications

  • IP camera expertise: 2+ years hands-on experience with commercial IP camera systems, NVRs, and video management systems
  • Linux proficiency: Strong command-line experience with Linux terminal, system administration, and remote server management
  • FFMPEG proficiency: Experience with FFMPEG or strong ability to learn it quickly (used extensively in daily operations)
  • Networking knowledge: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, network troubleshooting, and camera network configurations
  • Development tools: Experience with SSH, Git/GitLab, and version control workflows
  • Remote troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues remotely using various tools and methods

Technical Skills

  • Video systems: Knowledge of video codecs (H.264, H.265), video containers (.mp4, .avi, .mkv), and video processing
  • Python scripting: Experience with Python automation and scripting (used frequently for system tasks)
  • System monitoring: Experience with Zabbix or similar monitoring platforms (highly valuable)
  • Cloud platforms: Experience with Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud infrastructure
  • Remote access tools: Proficiency with TeamViewer, AnyDesk, SSH, and other remote support tools
  • Problem-solving: Methodical, logical approach to complex technical problems with strong critical thinking skills

Professional Qualifications

  • Flexible schedule: Ability to work outside normal business hours when supporting field installations and system deployments
  • Independent work style: Thrives working remotely with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability
  • Communication skills: Clear technical communication with both technical team members and non-technical farm personnel
  • Documentation habits: Strong attention to detail with excellent note-taking and documentation practices
  • Time management: Ability to manage multiple technical projects and support cases simultaneously

Bonus Qualifications

  • Agricultural experience: Familiarity with dairy farm operations or agricultural environments
  • Advanced monitoring: Experience with network monitoring tools, database management, or DevOps practices
  • Bilingual capabilities: Fluent English/Spanish communication for diverse farm operations
  • Advanced scripting: Additional automation experience beyond Python (bash, automation frameworks)
