GoMaterials is one of Canada's fastest-growing companies, recognized by Deloitte, the Globe & Mail, and the Lazaridis Scaleup Program. We’re revolutionizing how landscape contractors source plant and hardscape materials through a B2B marketplace that simplifies procurement in a traditionally outdated industry.
Since our inception, we have helped landscapers save time, money, and stress and plant over 1.5 million plants and trees. Led by a young and eager group of entrepreneurs, GoMaterials is aggressively expanding across North America. We are therefore looking for amazing people to add to our team!
About the role:
As a Buyer, you will play a critical role in optimizing procurement processes, ensuring order success, and mentoring junior buyers. You will be responsible for executing and improving procurement strategies, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring seamless logistics coordination. Your leadership and problem-solving skills will help drive operational excellence and enhance our customer experience.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Execute orders with GSE independently and with precision - taking full accountability for quality, speed, fill, communication, and price to deliver the best possible customer experience.

  • Apply value engineering processes strategically and negotiate supplier terms effectively to maximize order profitability and success.

  • Identify procurement issues early, problem-solve with urgency, and communicate challenges clearly to senior buyers or upper management before they impact the customer.

  • Collaborate reliably with your team lead or senior buyers, stepping in to support additional tasks and ensuring the team's priorities are always covered.

  • Manage your workload with strong priority management, consistently meeting targets and KPIs even when juggling competing demands.

  • Follow established processes with discipline, and proactively bring forward recommendations when you see an opportunity to improve efficiency or close a gap.

What you’ll bring:

  • 2–3 years of experience in a procurement, operations, or supply chain role.

  • Proven ability to execute purchase orders independently with attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.

  • Confident negotiator with the interpersonal skills to build and maintain productive supplier relationships.

  • A natural problem-solver who stays composed under pressure and finds solutions without always needing to escalate.

  • Reliable team player who collaborates well cross-functionally and follows through on commitments.

  • Strong at prioritizing - able to manage multiple orders and tasks simultaneously without losing focus or accuracy.

  • College diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field (an asset).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • English fluency required; French proficiency is a strong asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced business environment.

  • Familiarity with GSE or similar procurement platforms.

  • Exposure to value engineering or cost optimization initiatives.

  • Experience with ERP or procurement management systems.

  • Background in landscaping, horticulture, or a related wholesale industry.

  • Attention to detail
