🚀 Our story

Partly's mission is to connect the world's parts and we're doing that by building the first global platform for replacement parts, starting with auto parts. Our big vision is to accelerate the world towards a sustainable future where where anyone can fix anything.

Founded by ex-Rocket Lab engineers, we utilise cutting-edge technology to solve challenging but exciting problems that make a huge impact in a $1.9 trillion industry. We've more than tripled our team over the last 12 months and expect to double in size again over the coming 12 months. We're a global team spanning both Europe and Australasia.

We provide a scalable digital infrastructure solution to some of the world's largest businesses and the most exciting startups. Partly's solutions are integrated across hundreds of companies globally, providing the backbone for cataloguing and managing parts online.

Our investors in Blackbird Ventures (Canva, CultureAmp etc.), Square Peg, Octopus Ventures, Icehouse, Peter Beck (Rocket Lab), Akshay Kothari (Notion Co-Founder) and Dylan Field (Figma Co-Founder).

We're continuing to build a world-class team and ensuring Partly is a place where people can do the best work of their lives. We're proud of the culture we've built at Partly, and our values are lived throughout every experience.

🖍️ This role

The Financial Controller will own Partly's accounting function end to end, and report to Ana Wight (CFO).

This role exists because we're scaling fast! Multiple entities, multiple jurisdictions, a growing commercial engine and we need someone who has seen this show before. You'll take full ownership of the compliance and operational finance work that underpins the business, freeing up our FP&A and strategic capacity to go deeper on growth.

💻 What will you do

  • Own the accounting function. Lead all financial accounting and reporting including revenue recognition, month end and year end close, and consolidated reporting across Partly's entities. The trains run on time.

  • Keep us compliant across every jurisdiction we operate in. Manage tax and statutory compliance obligations across NZ, UK, and any additional geographies as we grow, working with external advisors to ensure we're always ahead of obligations, not behind them.

  • Run payroll, vendor payments, billing, and treasury. Own the operational finance workflows that keep the business moving. Establish and maintain a treasury policy appropriate for our stage and risk profile.

  • Evaluate and implement the right tools and systems. Assess where we are today, identify gaps, and make sound decisions about what finance infrastructure we need to scale to Series C and beyond, including a future ERP decision.

  • Lead and develop the finance team. Manage the function day to day, helping them grow their skills and ensuring the team delivers with consistency and quality.

  • Partner cross functionally. Work closely with the billing team and external auditors and tax advisors to keep financial operations tight. Be the reliable domain expert that the business leans on.

🥷 Your skills

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant. CA or equivalent is a hard requirement. This role carries real technical responsibility across entities and jurisdictions.

  • Proven Financial Controller experience. You've held an FC title and run the full function before. You don't need oversight on the fundamentals , you are the expert.

  • Multi entity and multi jurisdiction experience. You're comfortable with the complexity of operating across NZ, UK, and beyond. Transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency reporting aren't new territory for you.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge. Revenue recognition, statutory compliance, payroll, AP/AR you can go deep on all of it and know when to bring in external advisors vs. handle it yourself.

  • Scale-up or startup background. You've operated in a fast-moving environment where you had to build and improve systems while keeping BAU running. You're not waiting for a full team to get things done. Ideally, you have seen the series C journey before.

  • (Preferred) Professional services grounding. Experience at a Big 4 or mid-tier firm early in your career, followed by in-house experience, is a strong signal. Audit background is particularly valued.

  • (Bonus) ERP implementation experience. You've been through a system selection and/or implementation process before and you know what good looks like.

  • (Bonus) SaaS or marketplace business model familiarity. Understanding of recurring revenue, usage-based billing, or marketplace economics is a plus as we scale our commercial engine

Please note: if you don't have all the skills/experience listed above but believe you could be outstanding in this role, please still consider applying. Many folks often count themselves out. Please allow us to learn more about you and why you're exceptional.
