About Wirestock
Wirestock is one of the leading data platforms for ethically sourced multimodal data. We serve some of the world’s top AI labs, including several foundation models, by providing high-quality, fully licensed training datasets. As the AI data landscape undergoes a major shift, we are scaling rapidly to meet rising demand for curated visual data.
About the Role
We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to take full ownership of the reliability, performance, and scalability of Wirestock's production systems. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure operations, applying engineering rigor to operational problems and ensuring our platform remains fast, resilient, and available as we scale.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining the observability and automation foundations that keep our systems healthy, leading incident response end-to-end, and partnering with engineering teams to design for reliability from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Own production reliability: define, track, and enforce Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and error budgets across critical services.
- Lead incident response from detection to resolution, conducting blameless post-mortems and driving systemic improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Design and implement a comprehensive observability stack covering metrics, structured logging, and distributed tracing to give the team full visibility into system behavior.
- Identify and eliminate toil through automation, reducing the operational burden on the engineering team and enabling sustainable on-call practices.
- Manage and evolve Wirestock's cloud infrastructure (AWS), ensuring it is secure, cost-efficient, and built to handle growth.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews, advocating for reliability, fault tolerance, and operational simplicity in every system decision.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipeline reliability, deployment safety mechanisms, and rollback strategies in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain runbooks, incident playbooks, and infrastructure documentation that the entire team can rely on.
- Contribute to capacity planning by analyzing usage trends and forecasting infrastructure needs before they become constraints.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in a Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Production Engineering role.
- Deep proficiency in Linux/Unix systems and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, load balancing, CDN).
- Proven experience with AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, CloudWatch, IAM, or equivalent services).
- Strong hands-on experience with observability and monitorawing tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, PagerDuty, or similar.
- Solid scripting and automation skills in Python and/or Bash.
- Experience with containerized environments (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) in production.
- Clear understanding of SRE principles: error budgets, toil management, SLO-based reliability, and blameless incident culture.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, able to diagnose complex, multi-system failures methodically and under pressure.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Nice to Have
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Familiarity with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, or similar).
- Experience with log aggregation and distributed tracing tools (ELK Stack, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, or similar).
- Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments and experience working alongside security teams.
- Exposure to chaos engineering principles and tools (Chaos Monkey, Gremlin, or similar).
What We Offer
- A collaborative environment where quality and engineering excellence are top priorities
- The chance to work on products with real impact on a global creative community
- Competitive salary and equity options
- 50 work-from-home days annually
- A fast-growing company with a flat structure and strong team culture
