About the Role

We're looking for a Creative Project Manager with a strong background in visual design and creative production to lead high-volume visual content projects involving graphic design, web design, photography, illustration, and 3D content.

This is not a traditional marketing, advertising, or general project management role.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have hands-on experience in a creative discipline and have transitioned into project management, production, or coordination. You should understand how creative work is actually produced, the tools creators use, and what it takes to turn creative requirements into high-quality deliverables at scale.

Our projects may involve coordinating large networks of freelance creators and high volumes of visual assets, with strict requirements around production specifications, metadata, quality control, review workflows, and delivery deadlines.

You will turn complex client requirements into structured production workflows: defining requirements, creating briefs, coordinating creators and internal teams, tracking asset production, identifying bottlenecks, maintaining quality, and ensuring final delivery.

We prefer this role to be based in our San Francisco office in a hybrid work arrangement. If you're open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Own

  • Lead visual content projects from initial requirements and creative briefs through production and final delivery.
  • Translate client requirements into clear creative briefs, specifications, workflows, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Build and manage production workflows involving large volumes of visual assets.
  • Coordinate designers, photographers, illustrators, 3D artists, reviewers, freelancers, and internal teams.
  • Understand creator workflows and communicate effectively about creative requirements, tools, formats, and production constraints.
  • Track asset production across multiple contributors, including submissions, metadata, naming conventions, reviews, revisions, approvals, and delivery.
  • Review project progress and help identify creative or production issues before they affect quality or deadlines.
  • Monitor creator capacity, project progress, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Allocate resources across creators, reviewers, budgets, tools, and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate project data and reporting so stakeholders have clear visibility into progress and risks.
  • Ensure delivered content meets creative, technical, and quality requirements.
  • Continuously improve production workflows as projects scale.

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience across creative production, design, and project management.
  • Strong understanding of visual content creation and the workflows used by designers and other creative professionals.
  • Hands-on experience with creative tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign.
  • Familiarity with Figma and UI/UX or web design workflows is a strong advantage.
  • Experience managing complex creative projects with a high volume of deliverables.
  • Experience coordinating multiple creators, designers, freelancers, vendors, or production contributors simultaneously.
  • Ability to translate creative requirements into clear briefs and actionable instructions for creators.
  • Strong visual judgment and attention to detail.
  • Strong experience tracking deliverables, deadlines, dependencies, reviews, and approvals.
  • Excellent organizational and operational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal English.
  • Ability to independently own projects from initial requirements through final delivery.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where requirements and priorities can change.

Particularly Relevant Backgrounds

We'd especially like to hear from candidates who started their careers in a hands-on creative role and later moved into project management, production, or coordination, for example:

  • Graphic Designer → Project/Production Manager, with experience using Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.
  • Web/UI Designer → Project Manager, with experience using Figma and understanding UI/UX workflows.
  • Creative/Design Coordinator → Project Manager, with strong hands-on knowledge of visual production.
  • 3D Artist or Game Artist → Producer/Project Manager, with knowledge of 3D production tools and a strong visual eye.
  • Similar transitions from hands-on visual creation into managing creative teams, workflows, and deliverables.

Experience in photography, illustration, 3D, gaming, digital asset management, creator networks, or high-volume content production is also valuable.

This Role Is Probably Not the Right Fit If

Your experience is primarily in:

  • Marketing campaign management
  • Brand or social media management
  • General software/IT project management
  • Administrative project coordination without a visual/creative background
  • Creative strategy without hands-on understanding of creative production

We're looking for someone who can combine creative understanding with strong project management - someone who understands creators, their tools, and their workflows, while being highly organized and capable of managing people, assets, specifications, reviews, data, and deadlines at scale.
