Job Summary:

The Controller assists the CFO in managing the accounting operations of the organization. This role is crucial for producing financial statements, enhancing accounting controls, improving the segregation of duties, streamlining team functions, and accelerating organizational goals.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes including review of journal entries and support.
  • Prepare financial statements and filings in compliance with GAAP and prepare variance analysis.
  • Manage cash flows and forecast.
  • Automate GL account reconciliations.
  • Build journal entry support electronic repository.
  • Maintain the general ledger (GL) structure.
  • Assist in redesigning GL account structure.
  • Contribute in the preparation of budgets and forecasting.
  • Support strategic decision making.
  • Administer internal controls and audits of policies and procedures to preserve the organization's assets.
  • Facilitate payroll processing when needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments for financial support.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses as requested to support the company.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Gusto is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience in R&D and private equity or venture-backed environments is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong passion for optimizing processes.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
  • Analytical thinking skills.
  • High curiosity index.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of career progressive experience in accounting.
  • Experience in a startup environment is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Capacity to lift and move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to read and enter data accurately.
  • Manual dexterity for operating computer equipment and handling documents.
