Job Summary:

The Purchasing and Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing the areas of supply chain, inventory, and shipping/receiving. This is a full-time position and requires a detail-oriented, highly motivated person who can effectively multitask in multiple areas of the business.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage the supply chain:

  • Work with existing suppliers and support sourcing of new suppliers.
  • Create and manage all POs in the ERP/Accounting system.
  • Work with the Chief Operations Officer to negotiate best-of-class pricing for all open orders of materials and services.
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier List.

Complete all shipping and receiving activities:

  • Perform all receiving activities.
  • Verify the receiver to purchase order and verify credit card purchases under assigned cards.
  • Distribute received materials to the appropriate person.
  • Perform all shipping activities.
  • Order all materials required for shipping the product, including boxes, packing materials, etc.
  • Maintain all records on shipping and keep appropriate files, including all shipment and customer information.
  • Source suppliers/contractors as appropriate to complete facility improvements.

Special Projects:

  • Perform special projects as assigned.

  • Experience with supply chain as a buyer or supervisory role.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs and be capable of utilizing dollies and pallet jacks.

Education and Experience:

  • Four-year college degree is a plus.
  • At least 3-5 years of general business experience, 1-3 years of supply chain experience, and 1-3 years of shipping and receiving experience. Experience can be combined or parallel.
  • Proficiency in managing supply chain and inventory processes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while performing job duties.
  • Capacity to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
