Sales Director — Strategic Accounts

3DEO is seeking an experienced, technical Director of Sales – Strategic Accounts to drive new business growth through proactive prospecting, customer development, and complex deal execution. This is a "hunter" role — ideal for a sales leader with an engineering background who transitioned into a commercial career and thrives in technical sales environments. As the senior-most direct seller at 3DEO, this role is the right hand to the Chief Commercial Officer and will take ownership of high-value opportunities, key strategic accounts, and complex solution selling. You’ll be expected to build trusted relationships with customers, identify high-impact applications for our technology, and close deals across prototype-to-production engagements.
This is a true outside sales role that requires regular travel to customer sites, events, and conferences, while reserving time for hands-on work with engineering, production, and executive teams.
While this role requires on-site presence in Torrance, CA, we’re open to remote candidates who are a strong fit.
Essential Functions:
- Identify, develop, and close high-value, net-new business opportunities across target industries
- Own the full sales cycle: outreach, qualification, Discovery, proposal development, technical alignment, and close
- Engage directly with engineering, procurement, and executive-level buyers at OEMs and product companies
- Lead customer conversations with technical fluency, translating engineering requirements into business opportunities
- Travel to visit customers, attend trade shows, and actively network within the manufacturing community
- Collaborate with engineering and commercial teams to scope solutions and build proposals
- Maintain CRM hygiene and pipeline reporting to support forecasting, pricing strategy, and operations planning
- Act as a senior commercial presence across strategic accounts, proposals, and executive engagements
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of B2B sales experience in industrial manufacturing, precision components, or related technical fields
- Demonstrated success in an outside sales or business development role focused on solution-based selling
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, design-for-manufacturing (DFM), and value-based selling
- Proven ability to drive complex, multi-stakeholder deals from concept through close
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience managing relationships with engineering, product, and procurement teams
- Strong CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineering background (BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering preferred)
- Experience in additive manufacturing, CNC, precision machining, or hardware product development
- Familiarity with long-cycle sales and new product introduction (NPI) processes
- Experience selling to medical device, aerospace, semiconductor, or high-tech OEMs
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field required
- 10+ years progressive sales experience
- MBA or related business education a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer in an office environment
- Ability to travel up to 25–40% for customer visits, industry events, and trade shows
- This is a full-time, preferably on-site position based in Torrance, CA; remote work considered for top-tier candidates with exceptional alignment
