Process Engineer
3DEO
Job Summary:
The Process Engineer is a key member of the Production team, responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes that ensure consistent quality and efficiency in production. This role is integral in the transition of new technologies and parts from R&D to production, establishing benchmarks, managing process controls, and driving continuous improvement. The Process Engineer will collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to support scaling production and meeting customer requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Develop, validate, and standardize production processes to ensure scalability, repeatability, and quality.
- Define and monitor key process metrics (yield, cycle times, machine variation, etc.) to benchmark machine and process performance.
- Lead the handoff of new processes and part builds from R&D into production, ensuring documentation, training, and controls are in place.
- Implement and maintain process control plans, PFMEAs, and quality standards to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
- Provide engineering support for production operations, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with Quality to investigate nonconformances, drive root cause analysis, and implement process improvements.
- Develop SOPs, work instructions, and training materials for production staff.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) to improve efficiency, throughput, and product quality.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to align processes with business and customer needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering field.
- 3–5 years of process engineering or production engineering experience in manufacturing (preferably additive manufacturing, precision machining, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of process development, statistical process control, and quality management systems.
- Hands-on experience with root cause analysis, problem-solving tools, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively on the production floor and interface across technical and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with metal additive manufacturing, CNC machining, or sintering.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or similar certification.
- Experience writing SOPs, control plans, and training shop floor personnel.
Physical Requirements:
- Split time between office and production floor; must be comfortable working hands-on with machines and operators.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and spend extended periods on the shop floor.
- Must be able to navigate a manufacturing floor, including standing, walking, and working around machinery.
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE and comply with all safety protocols in an industrial setting.
